Dorothy Urschel, president and CEO of Columbia Memorial Health, expressed the center’s importance to the community. “It will provide comprehensive, specialized care for women, ensuring they have the support and resources they need close to home,” she stated. “The new space provides a calming, healing environment. Our goal is to improve health outcomes, offer compassionate care, and be a trusted partner for women throughout their lives and healthcare journey.”

With the establishment of the Women’s Health Center, the hospital has also welcomed two new surgeons, added ten exam rooms, and two procedure rooms, Van Slyke noted. The center introduces new physical therapy services and advanced ultrasound technologies, enhancing the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities.

“It’s now a comprehensive and integrated center for pelvic health,” Van Slyke added.

A Milestone for Women’s Health

Edward Marici, a surgeon at the center and chief of gynecology at Columbia Memorial Health, highlighted the significance of the new facility. “This facility will allow us to offer comprehensive services, from preventative screenings to advanced, minimally invasive surgical treatments, all under one roof,” he said. “With cutting-edge technology and a patient-centered approach, we can ensure the best possible outcomes for women at every stage of their health journey.”

Community Support and Funding

The Women’s Health Center was made possible through generous contributions from several organizations, including Stewart’s Shops, the Dake Family Fund, Fenimore Asset Management, and donations to the Columbia Memorial Health Foundation.

James J. Armstrong, chair of the Columbia Memorial Health Foundation Board, expressed gratitude to the donors. “We are deeply grateful to each and every donor who made the Women’s Health Center possible. Your generosity will have a lasting impact, providing women in our community with the care, support, and services they need for generations to come,” he stated. “This center is a testament to our community’s shared belief in the importance of women’s health, and we cannot thank you enough for your dedication to making this dream a reality.”
