Specialized Women’s Health Clinic Announced
A new specialized women’s health clinic will open at Kyneton Health, as part of a state government initiative. On Wednesday, October 2, the government announced that Kyneton Health, operated by Central Highlands Rural Health, is one of 20 locations chosen for this free and specialized clinic. The initiative is funded through the government’s women’s health package.
Services Offered
The clinics will provide access to specialist nursing and allied health support for various conditions. These include endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pelvic pain, incontinence, perimenopause, and menopause.
Maree Cuddihy, the chief executive of Central Highlands Rural Health, expressed her organization’s enthusiasm for the new clinic. She emphasized the importance of focusing on women’s health issues and the need for personalized care.
“Having a specific focus and really listening to women has not necessarily had as much attention in the past,” Cuddihy stated.
Previous Initiatives
Cuddihy highlighted that the organization had already established a sexual health and reproductive hub and is currently working on setting it up. When the opportunity arose to apply for a women’s health clinic, the organization was eager to participate.
“A hospital like Kyneton Health can do this well and safely,” she said. “We have a range of specialists who are keen to help us establish this model.”
The aim is to open the new women’s health clinic by the end of this year.
Addressing the Gender Health Gap
Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas noted that the centers will provide comprehensive services.
“We know the gender health gap is real,” Ms. Thomas said. “That is why we’re offering these important services under one roof to give Victorian women easier access to the wide-ranging specialist treatments they need.”
Other Locations Announced
In addition to Kyneton Health, the announcement included several other facilities that will receive new women’s health clinics. These include Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton, Western Health Sunshine Hospital in St Albans, Eastern Health in Blackburn South, and Monash Health in Clayton.
