Breast Cancer Trials, formerly known as the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia, is urging Australians to contribute to the 2024 Australian Women’s Health Diary, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The proceeds from this diary play a crucial role in funding breast cancer trials research, which seeks new treatments and prevention strategies, ultimately holding the potential to save lives.
Over the past two decades, breast cancer-related deaths have seen a 30% decline, primarily attributable to novel treatments like Herceptin, Exemestane, Letrozole, and Tamoxifen identified through the Breast Cancer Trials research program. The impact of this diary in saving lives is substantial.
However, there remains a significant journey ahead. Alarming statistics reveal that in Australia, 57 individuals receive a breast cancer diagnosis daily, and an additional eight succumb to the disease.
Ms. Julie Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer – Fundraising and Philanthropy at Breast Cancer Trials, underscores the urgent need for more research to ensure that every individual receives the necessary treatment to overcome breast cancer and return to the lives they had envisioned. The support for this diary is pivotal in achieving this goal.
For over four decades, Breast Cancer Trials has been at the forefront of saving the lives of Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as those worldwide. Their groundbreaking discoveries are made possible through the Australian Women’s Health Diary, supported by countless Australians.
